“A4 Amyloid Beta” appears to refer to the amyloid-beta protein family used in neurodegeneration research. The label does not specify peptide length, sequence, or aggregation state, which materially change experimental interpretation. For research use only; not for human or veterinary use.
Educational research context. The cited studies and supplier descriptions do not verify the identity, testing, or effects of this Heritage product.
Amyloid-beta, historically also described as beta/A4 amyloid, is a family of peptides associated with amyloid precursor protein processing and Alzheimer’s-disease research. “A4 Amyloid Beta” is not enough to select a particular reagent: commonly studied examples include Aβ1–40 and Aβ1–42, and their monomeric, oligomeric, and fibrillar states are distinct experimental materials. The exact requested commercial identity was not established in the sources checked. A manufacturer’s sequence or catalog identifier is therefore necessary before assigning the properties of one variant to this label.
Thermo Fisher’s human Aβ1–42 product sheet illustrates the specificity normally supplied for such reagents: it lists a 42-residue sequence, chemical form, and research applications involving neurotoxicity and assay standards. It also relates experimental toxicity to aggregation and beta-sheet structure, rather than treating every amyloid-beta preparation as interchangeable. [1] In a primary study comparing Aβ40 and Aβ42 preparations, investigators reported that effects on synaptic plasticity and memory varied with isoform, concentration, and aggregation state. Some experimental conditions impaired these outcomes, whereas a different low-concentration oligomeric Aβ42 condition enhanced them. [2] Accordingly, the research description centers on aggregation biology, neuronal signaling, and model development—not a general claim of cognitive benefit.
