Kisspeptin-10 is a ten-amino-acid signaling fragment studied as an upstream regulator of reproductive hormones. Human experiments report stimulation of luteinizing-hormone secretion, altered LH pulsatility, and increased testosterone under defined study conditions. Kisspeptin-10 is the short, biologically active ten-residue fragment of the kisspeptin system. Its research significance comes from stimulation of the reproductive hormone axis upstream of pituitary luteinizing hormone, through signaling associated with gonadotropin-releasing hormone. Umbrella Labs describes it as a tool for studying LH and testosterone release and identifies the material with the KP-10 and metastin-fragment names. This makes it conceptually different from directly supplying testosterone or using hCG to stimulate the gonadal LH receptor.
George and colleagues studied kisspeptin-10 in healthy men and published their findings in 2011. They reported rapid increases in LH after acute exposure and increases in mean LH, pulse frequency, pulse size, and testosterone during longer experimental observation. The work used small groups and intensive hormone sampling to examine physiology rather than broad clinical outcomes. Its conclusions concern regulation of hormone secretion in the tested setting, not every claimed fertility or performance application. For research descriptions, the molecular form matters: results obtained with kisspeptin-54 or other kisspeptin analogues should not silently be presented as experiments on kisspeptin-10.
