Liraglutide is a lipid-modified GLP-1 receptor agonist studied and used in defined pharmaceutical products for metabolic disease. Human trials describe reduced body weight, altered appetite regulation, and improved glycemic measures. For research use only; not for human or veterinary use.

Liraglutide is an acylated analogue of human glucagon-like peptide 1 with 97 percent sequence similarity to the native hormone. The Saxenda prescribing information describes activation of the GLP-1 receptor, appetite-related effects, and glucose-dependent stimulation of insulin with reduction of glucagon secretion. Its modification and protein-binding behavior prolong exposure relative to native GLP-1. Novo Nordisk describes the weight-management mechanism in terms of greater satiety and reduced food intake, placing the molecule within incretin and energy-balance research rather than the muscle-growth-factor category.
Pi-Sunyer and colleagues evaluated liraglutide in a 56-week randomized trial involving 3,731 adults with obesity or qualifying overweight who did not have type 2 diabetes. Both groups received lifestyle counseling. The investigators reported greater average weight reduction with liraglutide than placebo, along with improvements in metabolic measures. Those findings come from a defined pharmaceutical preparation and trial population. They provide substantial human clinical context for the molecule but do not identify the contents or performance of an independently supplied research vial. A complete description therefore separates the known GLP-1 pharmacology, the manufacturer’s mechanism claims, and the actual clinical-study setting.
