Human Relaxin-2 — 10 mg

$25.49

Human relaxin-2 is a disulfide-linked hormone studied in vascular relaxation, pregnancy-related physiology, and tissue remodeling. Recombinant relaxin-2, called serelaxin, has also undergone large human trials in acute heart failure. For research use only; not for human or veterinary use.

Research Use Only. Not for human consumption, diagnostic use, or clinical application. Priced items use order requests; unpriced catalog listings are inquiry-only.

Human relaxin-2 belongs to the insulin-related peptide hormone family. R&D Systems describes its recombinant preparation as a disulfide-linked heterodimer containing separate A and B chains, illustrating why exact chain boundaries matter when comparing research reagents. Relaxin-related research examines receptor signaling, vascular responses, and connective-tissue remodeling. Clinical investigators developed recombinant human relaxin-2 as serelaxin, motivated by the cardiovascular and renal adaptations associated with pregnancy and the possibility of reproducing selected protective responses in acute heart failure.

The RELAX-AHF-2 investigators describe serelaxin as a candidate intended to reduce cardiovascular mortality and early worsening heart failure in hospitalized patients. Their large randomized trial, published in 2019, did not demonstrate either primary benefit compared with placebo: cardiovascular mortality at 180 days and worsening heart failure through day five were not significantly reduced. This human clinical result is part of the research narrative, alongside the biological rationale and supplier descriptions of the hormone. A vial labeled human relaxin-2 should therefore be described by its specified molecular form, not automatically treated as identical to the investigational serelaxin formulation.
