Trevogrumab
REGN1033 · Myostatin-targeting antibody
A monoclonal antibody investigated in myostatin signaling research. Read the published experimental context, distinct from the GDF8 protein it targets.
Not for human or veterinary use.
What is Trevogrumab (REGN1033)? It is a monoclonal antibody investigated for selective targeting of myostatin, also known as growth differentiation factor 8. It is not a short peptide or the myostatin ligand itself.
Trevogrumab and myostatin signaling
Trevogrumab, also designated REGN1033, is a fully human monoclonal antibody rather than a short peptide. Its proposed role is to neutralize myostatin, or GDF8, a protein that restrains skeletal-muscle growth. In the original preclinical publication, investigators reported selective myostatin binding and inhibition of downstream Smad2/3 signaling, without detectable binding to the related proteins GDF11 and activin A. In young and aged mice, they observed larger muscle fibers, increased muscle mass and force, and reduced muscle loss in several experimental atrophy settings. [1]
Published combination-study context
Regeneron’s June 2025 interim COURAGE announcement describes human obesity research combining semaglutide with trevogrumab, with or without the separate anti-activin-A antibody garetosmab. The company reported greater preservation of lean mass and greater fat-mass loss than with semaglutide alone; these are findings from the specified combinations, not a description of trevogrumab as a stand-alone weight-loss product. [2] Umbrella Labs markets a research vial under the trevogrumab name and emphasizes muscle preservation alongside GLP-1 drugs. Its listing identifies an antibody despite using “peptide vial” as the product category; the listing alone does not establish equivalence to clinical-trial material. [3]
Research evidence is not product characterization
The cited animal experiments and human combination studies describe their own materials and conditions. They do not establish equivalence, identity, purity, potency or effects of a Heritage Bio Labs vial. Findings from a combination must not be attributed to trevogrumab alone. This page provides research context, not treatment advice or administration instructions.
